San Biagio Platani is a small inland town in the Agrigento hinterland, surrounded by rolling agricultural country. Its quiet historic centre, churches and traditional houses reflect the farming culture of the Platani Valley.
The town is best known for the Archi di Pasqua. This tradition dates to the second half of the seventeenth century, shortly after the settlement’s foundation. Each year, the principal street is transformed with elaborate arches, domes and decorative structures created from bread, cereals, reeds, willow and other natural materials.

For most of the year, San Biagio offers a peaceful and strongly local way of life. Easter brings visitors and intense community activity as the town’s two traditional confraternities prepare their competing displays.
